Alright its been super busy lately at school!! So that's why I've been vacant from my blog... last month I had motion capture and art creation for games. The motion capture project was probably the best project I have had at school. We were instructed to get into groups and assign each other jobs in the production pipeline. I was of coarse the shading and lighting artist. In the end our final did not come as expected but it was completed and turned in on time...
Even though I don't find myself working in the game industry the art creation for game course really was helpful. The instructor really knew his stuff and there were MANY tips in tricks in all areas of computer animation that he passed onto us.
After last month our class was split into two classes, one game art and the other computer animation. This made it more apparent to us that the end is near and we should start thinking about our reels and our areas of focus. SO I decided to get to work on some of the things I want to demonstrate on my reel. i have been modeling and lighting a ArchViz project. I am using reference from the August 2009 Architectural Digest Magazine. The article was about an architect that developed a gorgeous home in Hong Kong. I am not following it exactly but there are many factors I'm trying to preserve. I will provide some early renders below. Enjoy.

MoCap Project Update
Sorry I haven't posted in a while but I've been busy with the new classes this month. Were taking art creation for games and motion capture right now. It's a pretty exciting month because we actually get to use the motion capture system at school! Our final consists of a 4 person group project. Our group is doing a zombie-ish short trailer. We have to record an actor in the suit (student in class), clean up the raw mocap data, model shade and light the environment, layer animate the mocap animation and render it out. Our group got a bit of a head start because we really want to make a good looking piece of work. Ill share some early renders below. I wish I could go all out on this project but due to time constraints I'm stuck with short render time being my main priority and quality falling second in line... All's well though I still think it'll be better than most I've seen... hopefully...

Small Game Project
So my roommate and I have been working on a small MMO project. He has come up with a basic outline and has asked me to flesh out the story.. I have more of a post apocalyptic/dialogue driven taste for story writing so I need to deviate from that a bit for him but I have come up with a few things he has liked as a base but big plot rollers. Anyways I also in my writing setup the environment for one of the playable "races" and why it is the way it is. Without revealing too much I'll just say it has to do with the moon and what it has inside of it... Ill upload a really raw test render since I don't like making posts without pictures :P...
So this is just a base model and crappy light setup for my own benefit butttt I hate posting without a picture :P...

CG iPhone
I modeled, textured and lit this in between lecture and lab today. I have been wanting to model my phone for a while not haven't gotten to it so I finally did it. There is still a bit of work needed to be done like the buttons and some textures on the back but for this post I figured no one would mind... Modeled out of Polygons, Mental Ray used with all Mia_Mat_x. FG on with HDRI and DIR light.

Errr...
Blah haven't posted in a while... Guess I've been busy. I just got done with rigging class... That class took everything out of me jeez! It was a lot of fun though and I think its the first at FullSail that I really learned a lot from... Anyways I guess since I started my blog with a picture in every post I won't break that tradition so early so here are some renders of some random models I have been working on to fit into a ArchViz project for my reel
I just threw this material on the vase thing cause I was working with it on the model down below. I used a directional light for the shadowing, HDRI for reflection and bounce lighting. For the correct GAMMA levels I added a simple LENS modifier to the camera. All renders use Mental Ray.
